Withdrawal Policy

Manuscript Withdrawal Policy

e-ISSN: 2620-7400 | p-ISSN: 2620-5262

Policy Overview

Jurnal Pertahanan dan Bela Negara understands that authors may occasionally need to withdraw their submitted manuscripts prior to formal publication. The journal has established this policy to ensure that manuscript withdrawals are processed transparently, ethically, and efficiently without disrupting the editorial workflow or scholarly record.

1. Author's Formal Request

If authors wish to withdraw a submitted manuscript from consideration, the corresponding author (or an authorized representative of the authoring team) must submit a formal written request to the editorial office via email. The request must be signed or approved by all co-authors.

2. Valid Reasons for Withdrawal

Requests for manuscript withdrawal must provide clear and legitimate academic, technical, or personal justifications. Valid reasons include:

  • Discovery of Major Errors: Uncovering significant analytical, empirical, or methodological errors that require substantial revisions or affect the study's conclusions.

  • Unforeseen Circumstances: Unanticipated institutional or personal factors preventing the authoring team from completing the review or revision process.

  • Ethical Considerations: Identification of undisclosed conflicts of interest or ethical issues requiring manuscript withdrawal.

Note: Withdrawing a manuscript solely to submit it to another journal after peer review has already commenced is considered an unethical practice (duplicate submission) and is strongly discouraged.

3. Timeliness and Editorial Workflow

Authors are strongly encouraged to submit withdrawal requests as early as possible (preferably during initial screening or before external peer review begins) to minimize unnecessary burden on reviewers and editorial staff.

Once a manuscript has entered advanced stages of peer review or copyediting, withdrawal requests will undergo rigorous evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief.

4. Editorial Decision and Confirmation

The editorial office will review the withdrawal request and verify its validity. Upon approval:

  • The manuscript will be officially marked as Withdrawn in the Open Journal Systems (OJS) database.

  • The corresponding author will receive a formal written confirmation of manuscript withdrawal.

  • The editorial process for the manuscript will be terminated.

5. Publication Ethics & Investigation Considerations

If a withdrawal request arises from suspected research misconduct, plagiarism, data falsification, or unauthorized authorship, the editorial office reserves the right to proceed with an investigation in accordance with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines before granting withdrawal. The journal may notify the authors' affiliated institutions if severe ethical violations are confirmed.

6. Resubmission Policy

If authors wish to resubmit a previously withdrawn manuscript at a later date, they must thoroughly address all original issues, errors, or reviewers' comments that led to the initial withdrawal prior to submitting it as a new submission.
