Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Pertahanan dan Bela Negara may be written in either Indonesian or English. Submissions must constitute original scholarly work and must not have been previously published, nor be under consideration for publication in any other journal, proceeding, or other media.

The journal prioritizes manuscripts presenting empirical research findings, conceptual frameworks, or critical analyses that significantly contribute to the development of defense and national resilience studies. All manuscripts must demonstrate academic rigor, methodological clarity (for research-based articles), and analytical depth.

Language and Abstract

  • Manuscripts written in Indonesian must include an abstract and keywords in English.
  • Manuscripts written in English must include an abstract and keywords in Indonesian.
  • The abstract should clearly state the research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.

Submission Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in soft copy format (.doc or .docx).
  • The file size must not exceed 2 MB.
  • Submission must be completed through the Open Journal System (OJS).
  • Authors must register and log in to the system before submitting their manuscripts.

Review and Editorial Process

All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening to assess suitability with the journal’s scope and compliance with author guidelines. Manuscripts that pass this stage will proceed to a peer-review process conducted by qualified reviewers.

Final publication decisions are made by the Editorial Board based on reviewers’ recommendations and adherence to the journal’s writing and formatting standards.

Publication Policy

  • Published articles are the sole responsibility of the respective authors.
  • The views expressed do not necessarily reflect those of the Editorial Board or Publisher.
  • Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s requirements will be notified via the OJS system and/or email.
  • Manuscripts submitted after the deadline may be considered for publication in a subsequent issue.

Authors are strongly encouraged to proofread their manuscripts carefully and ensure full compliance with the journal template and referencing style before submission.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format, with a maximum file size of 2 MB.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided to ensure readers can directly access the original sources for further reading or verification.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.
